Manual Osteopathy in Vancouver, B.C.
Welcome to Fairview Osteopathy
We specialize in Osteopathy and movement & awareness education
We are a team of osteopathic practitioners who are here to help you move better and feel healthier. Osteopathy is a holistic approach of manual therapy that is based in osteopathic philosophy and principles. The principles of osteopathy are deeply entwined with the understanding the human form and interrelationships of the anatomy and systems of the body. The osteopathic practitioner aims to support your body by applying this knowledge through manual therapy to reinforce your health. We use our hands to gently adjust your body. Education is also a component of our work so that you can move with greater ease and awareness and progress in your life’s endeavors.
Our Approach
Your body has a natural power (innate ability) to heal itself provided there are good conditions to do so. The osteopathic practitioner uses this principle to support areas of the body towards health by addressing the whole person and providing care to the areas that need the support. We use our hands to assess the body and then use strategies (techniques) to regain harmony of the tissue and or system (for example musculoskeletal, digestive…). The tissue that interests the practitioner could vary from bone and joints, fascia (connective tissue), organs and their fascia, lymphatic, blood vessels, and or nerves.
Our Commitment to Your Health
Your health and well-being are our top priorities. We want you to feel safe and happy when you come to us. We aim to create an inviting, friendly, and comfortable space where you can relax and trust us with your treatment. We listen to what you have to say and make a plan that suits your needs, as every person is unique. Our intent is to assist you on your path towards health and diminish pain and discomfort. We also want to teach you how to keep your body healthy and resilient.
(We are not medically diagnosing or assessing the body. If you have medical concern, please consult with your physician prior to visiting us.)
Services
We are dedicated to helping our clients achieve optimal physical well-being and empowering them to live their lives to the fullest.
Osteopathy
Our services focus on osteopathic assessment and treatment strategies based in osteopathic principles to support the body's overall health. Through a combination of manual techniques and therapeutic exercises, our skilled practitioners aim to restore balance, mobility, and function to the body. People with all kinds of concerns such as back pain, joint stiffness or pain, headaches, digestive issues, and many other concerns come to consult us.
Movement & Awareness Education
In addition to Osteopathy, we offer movement & awareness education through the Feldenkrais® Method. This method aims to enhance body awareness and improve movement efficiency through gentle, mindful movements and guided awareness. Our certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner will guide you in exploring new ways of moving and help you discover your body's potential for greater ease, flexibility, and coordination. Feldenkrais can be helpful for chronic pain, restoring proprioception and awareness to areas of the body that have suffered injury, and repatterning. It is founded in understanding of neuroscience and human development. It is slow and gentle and not to be overlooked because of this! Come view your body through a different lens – allow us to orient and guide the discovery of your body in a new way.
